Delectable, lavish and sumptuous are the best words to describe the Friday brunch at the Ritz-Carlton in Riyadh. The famously elaborate buffet spread is served at Al Orjouan, one of the hotel's three restaurants and their crown jewel.

The luxury experience and the sense of grandeur starts as guests arrive down the wide alley, lined with date palms and lamp posts that provide atmosphere and elegance. The palatial sand-colored building with a grand fountain greets you as you take the red carped inside. Stepping in, the sleek marble, lavish flower arrangements, equestrian statues, opulent chandeliers, and a warm welcome, makes guests feel like royalty and are sure make a lasting impression.

The lavish and opulent ambience continues in the palatial restaurant.  The Friday brunch is a sumptuous spread of Middle Eastern and international dishes, truly a trip around the world, and with touches from the hotel's two other restaurants - the Chinese, Hong, serving their delightful Peking duck, and the Italian, Azzurro, fresh pasta.

Even though it is mainly a buffet concept in Al Orjouan, there are also sections with personalized input of the chefs who prepare food by order. The international culinary journey takes you from China and Japan to the Middle East to Italy. It is nothing short of gastronomical pampering. There is a salad bar, Arabian traditional spread, seafood, sushi, cold cuts stations, but guests can also have the chef prepare you a plate of seared foie gras and scallops or fresh pasta with your favorite sauce. The dessert section is especially impressive offering a large variety of French pastries and Arabian delicacies, including dates dipped in and stuffed with chocolate, lavender, and pistachio nuts.

The mocktails, crafted by their resident master mixologist, are creative and delicious. The signature mocktails with house-made grenadine, stirred with fresh pomegranate, elegant Taif rose and fresh citrus; and the "Arabic Garden," a refreshing fusion of carrot, orange and ginger with a hint of spices, make you forget about champagne. Diners are also treated to the traditional Chinese tea-pouring ceremony, performed with precision and grace by the master from the hotel's Hong restaurant.
